Phase one was completed in February 2019, and Phase 2 was started in March 2019. Progress is good, and we hope to compete part of phase 2 (at least the children’s home, dining room and the kitchen) by the end of August. Lack of water and electricity forced us to re-plan phase 2 to include the construction of underground water (bore-hole) and partial solar power for limited use.
The foundation recently purchased 15 acres of land on the slopes of Mount Kilimanjaro and immediately embarked on the task of clearing the lands, the first step necessary to building our dream home for the children of Upendo to grow and prosper for years.
This is the beginning of phase one which will continue with building a guard post and a storage shed for building materials. Phase one will then wrap up with having water and electricity connections established.
